Buying & Selling

Buying:

All items offered by Westbridge Fine Art Auction House are subject to our published Standard Terms & Conditions of Sale. All lots offered are sold "as is" and therefore buyers are advised to preview each lot thoroughly and be satisfied that the lot meets their requirements before bidding.

Buyer's Premium: An 25% buyer's premium will be added to the successful hammer price of each lot. This premium is payable by all purchasers without exception.

Reserves: Buyers should be aware that many lots offered will contain a reserve which is a confidential minimum price agreed upon between consignor and auctioneer and below which an item will not be sold. The reserve price, however, will not be higher than the low estimate.

Estimates: Each lot carries a suggested auction estimate that has been arrived at by the auctioneer, in consultation with the consignor, based on current market trends and values. However, these estimates are to be used as value guidelines only and may not, because of market forces, reflect the eventual selling price.

Bidding: All bidders must be registered with the auction house and have established credit or made payment arrangements in the event of a successful bid. Buyers will not be allowed to take delivery of items purchased unless these conditions are met. Upon registration prospective bidders will receive a bidding number that becomes their identification during the auction.

Absentee Bids: In the event that a buyer cannot attend an auction, Westbridge Fine Art Auction House will accept absentee bids on the buyer's behalf and execute these bids as if the buyer were present at the auction. Absentee bids should typically be in the hands of the auctioneer no less than 24 hours prior to the commencement of the sale.

Removal of Property: Unless other arrangements have been made, all goods purchased at the auction should be paid for and removed from the auction premises no later than three days following the date of the sale. Purchases not removed within this time may be subject to a handling charge as outlined in the Standard Terms & Conditions of Sale.
